Who
We Are
Get to Know Us
ETHICA is more than a certification—it’s a movement born in Latin America and grounded in justice, dignity, and sustainability.
We are the first certification system that aligns global ESG standards with the environmental, legal, and cultural values of Latin American countries—including unique constitutional protections like Ecuador’s Rights of Nature and Bolivia’s Law of Mother Earth.
Our Team.
We are a dedicated team of professionals committed to empowering communities through certification and training, helping them achieve the Ethical and Sustainable Trade Certification (ETHICA).
As an affiliate of the Trade Center of the Americas, ETHICA serves as a trusted bridge between entrepreneurs, farmers, exporters, producers, importers, distributors, and consumers. Our certification ensures full traceability, transparency, and cost efficiency across every stage of the supply chain—building stronger, more sustainable connections worldwide.
How We Started
ETHICA was born from a 20-year journey of advocacy, research, focus groups, and collaboration with farmers, producers, exporters, workers, Indigenous leaders, and policymakers across the region. It’s a product of lived experience—not theory. Our goal is simple: to empower the people who produce our food and natural goods to thrive in ethical, sustainable, and globally competitive ways.
What Makes Us Unique
Locally Grounded, Globally Aligned
ETHICA integrates Latin American sustainability laws with international standards like ISO 14001, GRI, SASB, CSRD, and BRCGS.
Built From the Bottom Up
ETHICA is co-created with small producers, farmers, exporters, and communities—not imposed from the top.
Powered by a Living Curriculum
Through the WeFairTrade Academy, we provide culturally relevant training and support that turns certification into a learning and empowerment journey.
Restorative and Participatory
We incorporate values like Buen Vivir, Pachamama, zero waste, circular economy, and free, prior, and informed consent.
Practical and Transparent
Our 5-pillar scoring system is clear, evidence-based, and adaptable to small and mid-size producers throughout Latin America.
